Concurrent with his work in executive education, he has pursued a career as a writer; his credits include a published novel and produced screenplay. He also serves on the boards for Roy’s Desert Resource Center and Family Services of the Desert; both organizations offer food, shelter, resources and guidance to individuals and families in need in the Coachella Valley in California.

In 2012, he launched the Columbia M.B.A. course “Leadership through Fiction”. The course uses fictional narratives in novels, plays and film clips as the source material to study issues and solutions to challenges in leadership.
